The Daily Grind: Have you ever had an MMO you’ve been ashamed to enjoy

We don’t get to choose what we enjoy. We do get to choose what we do with that enjoyment, of course; if something you really enjoy is squirting ketchup on your neighbor’s dog and your neighbor asks you to not do that, you do have control over whether or not you do that. But sometimes you have an MMO that you really think is bad, run by bad people, maintained badly, or all of the above… and yet it’s also a game you very deeply enjoy.

There are ways to deal with this, of course. If the reasons you think the MMO is shameful to play are severe enough, not playing it at all is an option. Or you can just play it but not let other people know you’re playing it if it’s not offensive so much as tacky. Maybe you run a Twitter account about how an MMO is bad but you still play it, whatever. The question is just what is stated in the header: Have you ever had an MMO you’ve been ashamed to enjoy playing?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
