Star Stable developer suffers layoffs to ensure the MMO can ‘adapt, grow

Well, this sucks to report: Just weeks after we checked back in on the equestrian MMORPG Star Stable and found it marking 15 years of operation, the developer of the game has had to undergo restructuring — aka layoffs — in order to keep the game running.

“We announced an internal restructuring that means reducing the size of our organization by approximately 20%,” interim CEO James Watkins confirmed on LinkedIn. “By reducing our operating costs and refocusing our resources, we are putting Star Stable in the best possible position to adapt, grow, and deliver memorable experiences for players today and for years to come.”

Watkins did promise that Star Stable Entertainment was focusing on supporting those leaving “with care and respect,” thanked the affected devs for their work, and provided the customary statement of how the decision was “challenging.” All we can think about how this industry continues to be brutal to even the softest games out there, and offer our hopes those affected can find their feet soon.
