We’ve come across some unique portmanteaus and acronyms used by game studios to describe their titles, but we have to admit that calling a game “not an MMO, a FriendMO” is definitely near the top of the list. Say hello to Farhaven, a colorful and cozy-looking adventure sandbox that leans pretty heavily into shared progression and cooperation.

“Move into Farhaven with the people who matter most and watch your private world come alive. Every crop planted, every secret uncovered, every friendship made ripples out to unlock new possibilities for your whole group — this isn’t a game you progress through alone and compare notes on later, it’s one story you’re all inside of at once. Farhaven is like an MMO — but instead of thousands of strangers, your world is shared with the friends and family you choose.”

This isometric sandbox lets up to 15 players populate their own private fantasy world, sharing in plenty of pursuits including placing and decorating a house, building up a town, crafting, farming, courting NPCs, and delving into dungeons that frequently change so that no two runs are alike. The co-op angle extends through everything players do, as everyone in an instance gets the benefit of every discovery, quest, or town feature that any one player unlocks.

Developer Dragon Snacks Games is looking to drum up interest for the sandbox with a Steam page available for wishlisting and a gameplay livestream scheduled for tonight at 6:00 p.m. EDT, while a Kickstarter drive is set to open up sometime soon.
