Development on the medieval-themed persistent war MMO Anvil Empires continues to slide along, which brings us to another development blog from Siege Camp. And this time around, there is quite a bit about boats.
First, the cargo boat has gotten a revamp, with two more rower seats and the ability to furl and unfurl its sails, meaning that this logistic vehicle will need a bunch of players to operate at its maximum potential. The devs also showed off a shipyard structure that lets players build cargo boats and other upcoming large vessels, and a ship dock where… ships can dock. Duh.
Another main feature of this latest dev blog is an expansion of the game map, with additional continental landmasses and numerous islands being introduced. This isn’t to suggest that the entire world is coming online for testing; Siege Camp does point out that portions of the playable space can be “shut down” for focused testing.
Other highlights outlined in this progress report include a balance pass on farming to reduce the need for active maintenance, changes to water infrastructure pieces to move water through walls and share it with aqueducts, adjustments to character and storage inventories, and updates to cliffs and the scorpion defensive emplacement. We still have no word on when this one is going live yet, but there is clearly work being done.
