Pokémon has evolved significantly over the last three decades, even if not always as quickly as fans might like. Practically since the beginning, though, one dream has been shared by virtually all fans of the franchise that, as of yet, has not been realized: a Pokémon MMO.
A full MMO where millions of trainers can freely explore, trade, battle, and catch roaming Pokémon is thought of as the ultimate evolution of the franchise. Now, reportedly, an official Pokémon MMO is finally in development.
Pokémon Official MMO Reportedly In Development
Centro LEAKS is one of the biggest and most well-known Pokémon leakers, currently possessing over one million followers across their two X accounts. According to this widely trusted and reliable source, the MMORPG that fans have always wanted is on the way.
"Game Freak has been preparing us for Pokémon’s transition to a full MMORPG for years," their X post reads. "Gen 8: see random online players in real time in some areas. Gen 9: see and interact with online players across the whole map Gen 10: MMO-style quests, co-op play with friend"
They conclude the post by saying that the next step, either to be released alongside Winds and Waves as part of Generation 10, or as part of the future Generation 11. They also specifically state that it will be a multi-region, meaning players will potentially be able to go on adventure across Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, Paldea, wherever Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua come from, and maybe even regions from the anime and spinoff games, like the Orange Islands and Orre.

Of course not everyone is so thrilled about the idea, following the last decade of negativity surrounding the franchise. "Game Freak can barely get a single player game to function in a stable manner, even with all the features they keep stripping out, and now I am expected to believe they want to make an MMO? Either you are delusional or they are."
Ever since Pokemon jumped to 3D with X and Y on the 3Ds, reception towards new releases has been overwhelmingly critical, even if each installment has still found legions of fans. Many are hoping Winds and Waves will reunite the fandom in popularity but, if Game Freak can make an MMO on par with modern day competitors, then all may be forgiven.
